Sports Wall Art and Interior Decor for Boys, Tweens and Teens Released! - The Rough Game Collection

With its loose illustrative style, black and white imagery the new Rough Game Collection is an exciting one to reveal.  I've had a love for monochromatic design and until this series never really explored the idea.  It was fun working within the boundaries yet exploring the unlimited ways to interpret a black and white theme.  The collection ended up with 10 images including baseball, football, lacrosse, soccer, golf, basketball, hockey, a general trophy piece and an abstract scoreboard.

The Rough Game Collection

To round out the collection, I've also created a fabric series via Spoonflower.com.  My customers have requested more and more fabric, as they like to create their own accessories like pillows, bedding and gifts.

Among the art, you'll find a personalized name plaque that can be customized by name and a black canvas pillow.

Sports Wall Art and Decor by Aaron Christensen

I've had requests for inspirational pieces, which are a rarity for me.  Not that I don't like inspiration, I just love to have text as a visual piece and not to be "read" literally.  But, in this case the art lent itself to a couple fine pieces, available as poster prints.

Rock and Roll Wall Art Hits Ireland!

Rock and Roll Wall Art by Aaron Christensen

How sweet is my client? She's my latest international wall art client from Ireland. Her Mom and I had some international shipping things to overcome at first but now my girls Rock and Roll art and wall decals have a wall to call home. They sent me this picture today and it made my day!

ABC's Modern Family Argues While My Art Just Sits There

I received texts and emails last night that my Girl's Rock and Roll Art had some serious airtime on ABC's  Modern Family.  The hilarious show aired in 2009 with my art as set decoration in Alex Dunphy's bedroom.  It's had some great screen time through the years, but the funny thing is, it's almost always during some kind of conflict.  The two daughters fight, the mom Claire fights...it's a regular backdrop for family disfunction, which is what Modern Family does best.

If you're in the Dunphy decorating mood and want a backdrop for your parent and teen disfunction, it's available in reproductions on my site-  http://www.embellishmentsstudio.com/music-and-rock-art-by-aaron-christensen.html

If your little Rock Star need some attitude in her room you could always pick up my Peel and Stick Wall Decals by RoomMates at your local Target store.

Nursery Shopping Art Spotting - Kim Kardashian

My family loves to spot my artwork on TV for me. One of my keen eyed spotters noticed my vintage princess crown art hanging on the wall at Joey Wahl Arts Children's Boutique in LA, during Kim Kardashian's visit. While it's no ringing endorsement from the pregnant reality star, it's an art spotting none the less. My daughter thought it was tweetable. OMG! #KimKardashian

The art is part of my Princess Collection.  I designed the pieces to veer away from the cutesy, animated princess look and go more sophisticated.  When I design rooms for little princess, I prefer to make them regal, not silly.

Murals Transform Bland Spaces in a School

Murals are a segment of my business that I truly enjoy creating.  While their popularity in residential spaces comes and goes like wallpaper, they're always the right fit for challenging spaces in kid oriented commercial and residential space.  I recently completed several new murals for a day school.  The bland off white walls lent little to the imagination and were cluttered with stapled and taped outdated posters, art for the sake of taking up space and store bought pictures which lent nothing to the space.

To date, I've painted five murals within the school.  I've varied each in style, composition and theme.  Hopefully they look executed by different artists, as I want the variety to be that akin to children's books.  No two are the same.

Here are three of the five murals.  I finally got around to taking photos with a real camera instead of the cell phone pictures that are oh so convenient.  I'll post the other two soon.

If you're curious, from my observations, murals are becoming popular in kids rooms once again.  Everyone has tried everything possible with decals, vinyl letters, chevron stripes and posters and the boredom is creating a resurgence in mural popularity.  So break out your paints, its time to lead the trend and not follow!

In the children's storytime stair area I created this magical forest with larger than life flora and fauna.  I rendered this mural in an animation cell style.  I wanted it to look like they're sitting within an animated movie.

To soften the hard inside corner I bridged it with a hand painted cutout of
a luna moth.  The frog is the first thing you see as you come down the hallway.  The kids love him.  He's about 2.5 feet tall.

The indoor play structure area was converted into a farm theme.  The maple wooden needed to be somewhat camouflaged.  I thought it would blend nicely with hay bales.  The owner's office door has been converted into a swinging barn door.

A faux tree trunk was added to the play structure to allow for the painting of a tree canopy on the mural sky.  Sadly, you can't see it in this picture.

In a second staired area, where the students watch videos and share, a storybook style forest was created.  Its soft calming colors lends itself to the low light room.

I sculpted a reliefed beehive, with bees to add a bit of whimsy to the space.

Up and Away Nursery - Chic Paper Airplanes, Cool Kites and Haute Air Balloons

My Fall 2012 series of children's wall art has just been released and I'm excited to share three of the pieces with you.  This group entitled Up and Away is a little twist on the traditional transportation theme.  Here I've explored things that float, sail and cruise through the sky.

Racing to and fro, these geometric motif paper
airplanes are filled with color and wonder.
Canvas reproductions are available on my site and
through boutiques nationwide.

Kites adorned with fanciful patterns fill the sky.
Canvas reproductions are available on my site and
through boutiques nationwide.

Patterned hot air balloons float aloft in this children's wall
art piece.  Canvas reproductions are available on my site and
through boutiques nationwide.

The series fits perfectly into the pattern rich and muted color trends popular in children's furniture and textiles.  To inspire you, I'm happy to offer this Up and Away mood board featuring my picks for a little boy's nursery.   Its subtle skyward theme comes through with the addition of adorable cloud mobiles, a sunburst mirror and waving pennant bunting.  For good measure, keep babies head warm with a hand knit aviator's cap.

All You Need is Love - Girl Nursery and Bedroom Ideas

I'm happy to announce the release of two of my latest children's wall art canvases.  These are part of my Flea Market Finds Collection.

The Love Bubbles Canvas speak of love in a rainbow of colors.
Available from my website and boutiques nationwide.

You Fill My Heart With Love shows the many layers of love in
a prism of brilliant colors.
Available from my website and boutiques nationwide.

These and other pieces from the collection are inspired by the folk and hand wrought one-of-a-kinds you would find at Flea Markets.  Whenever I travel, I love to hit the local flea markets.  My love of vintage signage and quirky folk art always has me hunting for my next art treasure.  Within these works, I was inspired to create imagery with that unique art appeal and offer it in a color palette that compliments todays nursery and bedroom textiles.  The sweet sentiment of "You Fill My Heart With Love" is a perfect expression of my love of text and painted word art.

Here you might enjoy two mood boards, one for a nursery and the second a girl's bedroom.  If you are interested in the art, it is available from my website boutique or from hundreds of retailers nationwide that carry my line.  If you would prefer to shop locally, send me your zip code and I'll locate your nearest retailer.  Keep in mind, EmbellishmentsKids.com offers e-consults and travel based design packages for nurseries, kid's and teen room.  See our website for information.

Enjoy!

Get-a-way - A Room for a Teen Longing for Paradise

Dig your feet in the sand, lay back and sun yourself.   In this mood board featuring my American Byway's Prop Plane art, I've assembled a room for the young guy who longs for travel and exotic locals.  Borrowing from the hot trend of reclaimed lumber, deconstructed furniture and primal materials, the design brings home the textures and colors of the beach, preferably one in an far off paradise.

Visit my website for the art and details on how I can help you design your children's, teen, tween and youthful spaces.

Here We Go! A boy's transportation nursery mood board for the little traveler.

My art, available nationwide, and through my online boutique, brings together the look of old travel related signs, vintage elements and reclaimed wood within a U.S. Map.  It's available in two sizes, fit for a boys room or within your home.

New Wall Art and Decor by Aaron Christensen- Perfect for Boy's Rooms

Introducing the American Byways Collection

I'm happy to announce new additions to my wall art and decor line.  The collection explores the ever-popular transportation theme in a nostalgic, vintage way.  With distressed and reclaimed wood imagery in wood tones, turquoises and teals, the pieces are on trend with a color palette and textures popular in kid's rooms.   Featuring a U.S. map and forms of transportation, the collection offers a timeless look that has terrific value being able to transition from toddler room decor to art for adult spaces.

Hopping from cornfield runways to small city airports the American
Byways Prop Plane piece brings to mind the joys of small aircraft travel.

While Hot Air ballooning is no longer a current form of transportation,
the image of a balloon evokes thoughts of traveling amongst the clouds and
soaring the skies in days bygone.

Hitting the dusty back roads in a Pick-up truck, visiting every small
town in-route is inferred in this nostalgic piece.

Clickety clack, clickety clack.  The Locomotive image reminds us of
the glamour and intrigue of transcontinental railroad travel.

With it's road signs and vintage ephemera, the American Byways map pays tribute
to the cross country road trip.

The American Byways Lampshade/Lamp set coordinates with the collection.

My new introductions are only available, for the first six months, artist direct through my website or exclusively through brick and mortar stores that carry my line.  This gives Main Street America a chance to present and sell the pieces before the online retailers.
